This week felt really weird. It was after Learning Journey Week and I was still in like a holiday mood... This is now Term 2 and things are really picking up pace. So many test, so little time to do. I just got back my History, Phyiscs, Chinese and Maths test not too long ago. I am glad that I passed. I did my best in History scoring 13/16. Congratulations to those who got 15. I must say our class really did quite well compared to other classes with no failures. This is only the first test so we must continue to strive forward. :)

Physics was not too bad either. I got 8/11 for my SPA (Science Practical Assessment) Well, Ms Siu just gave birth to her son in March and now we have a really nice and young teacher - Wan Ling aka Miss Er.

Chinese.. mmm. I got 42/70. I'm not sure whether it is considered good or bad but I shall continue to improve on my composition. Maths was done rather badly although they say that if you passed you are already very lucky. I got 25/40. I missed the class average by 0.97 marks. (weird huh?) Congratulations to Carrie who aced this test and scored 38/40, Karen and Charmaine who scored 35/40. Jia You!!

I am so sad. Aili will be leaving for Canada and will be emigrating there. So depressing... we will all definitely miss hre. Now our class only has 35 people. It should be really nice in Canada just don't forget us :P

For Literature and English lessons, we listened to 4 songs. Perhaps Love (English version), Tom's Diner by Suzanne Vega, Reflection by Chirstina and I'm not a girl, not yet a woman by Britney to analsye to structure and something called Theme and Subject. Interesting things I have never noticed before.

Today was the last house practice of the year. Yay! and Boo :( It was fun doing cheers, mass dance and joking round as a house. I am a HADLIAN.
H-A-D-L-E-Y
We've got game, we've got game
H-A-D-L-E-Y
We've got style, we've got style
We are easy on the eyes but hard to beat
So when you're up against us, expect defeat
Don't mess with us, or 'all be trippin'
One look from us and 'all be flippin'
So here us out,
You better watch out
Cause we'll show you what
we're all about
Hadley is now leading in Sportsfest. Yay!! All the way.

Weekends/ 8:06 PM
Sunday, March 25, 2007

House practise today was torturing. Picture the merciless and meanancing sun beating down on you. Imagine the haunting heat of the sun lashing on your drenched body. That was the mass dance situation. We were made to stand under the irritatingly hot sun for around 2 hours. Plus the amount of running and squatting. Acutally I don't understand why they have to make us squat for so log. Don't they understand that squatting is worst than standing? We learnt how to make the phrase "Heart 2 heart" and "<3".

When we arrived back at the gym, we rejoiced at the cool and refreshing air condition. Then, I realised that I had to go to support the GB drill competition. I had to change into my full uniform and we crammed into a small bus. A really small one. The drill competition was quite interesting. I did not know that drill could actually become a form of 'serious' dancing. All it needs is a little spice and creativity.

Next, I got lost at Nee Soon camp. My dad said that he would picking me up. When I ask him where he was, he said he was outside. I walked out of the building and could see no signs of my dad nor the car. Little did I know that the 'outiside' meant that it is the outiside of the entire camp. I had to walk a long way before getting out of the camp.

I was so tired that I slept on the way home and I went to lala land for another hour before waking up. Must have been the intensive heat I was exposed to in the morning. At 5pm, I went to my cousin's house to celebrate her baby's first month birthday. The baby was really cute.I wonder how cute I was when I was young --" Well, happy weekends

Friday was quite a short day. I reported to school at 8pm lugging my Math Active Day Project Boardgame that was done by Sandra, Murnira, Averill and me. I reached the school at 7.40 and spent the next 20 mins or so talking and cleaning up the classroom. When everyone finally arrived, we set up our game and waited for the other people from the other classes to come.

It was fun being the game master. Struttling back and forth between playing and teaching. It was enjoyable. The games were all well made and fun. Creative ideas from different classes sure is interesting :) Our game was quite a success although it was kind of still cause sometimes the players would be trying very hard to solve the questions.

I went around visiting the other classes to see their many different ideas. I was amazed at the power of originality and creativity. Some had fascinating games like 'Bombs Away'. It was extremely 'addictive'. Although we did not win the final competition, we are glad that we had the chance to participate in this programme.

I want to thank Sandra for doing all the printing and stuff, Murnira for so willingly helping and Averill for setting most of the question. I think we did a great job and it made me uderstand you guys all better.

Maths Active Day/ 7:55 PM

Last Thursday was the best day ever. I only reported to school at 10pm and that was for Maths Active Day. We were supposed to make a game that includes maths and a NE message in it. We have prepared for it for about 2 weeks ago and by sheer luck, we managed to complete the game before the dateline. Phew!

We created a game called NEggy Carton Battle. I know the game sounds pretty lame but I think it is quite fun to play. After rounds of going round to play the other group's games, the winners were eventually announced. Adalie's group got first (despite someone not wanting them to win and we got second.

Adalie's group's project was tampered with and whoever that was was really ruthless. She tore the entire intruction booklet into shreds. Leaving the part with the ribbon dangling as the ribbon could not be torn. Then, when the results were announced, someone changed the results of a groups points. I am so disheartened that such people actually exist in our class. If this continues to happen, I may not even want to trust the person sitting next to me. Would'nt that be really pitiful?

I we have done our best in something, then why bother whether we lose or win. I would rather win something based on my own efforts then destroy someone elses work. It is really not worth it. Being inteligent is not enough... integrity is important too.

Geog Day/ 7:48 PM

Last Wednesday was Geography day. I visited NEWater. Although I don;t really like the taste of NEWater, I learned some new stuff... very interesting stuff. First we entered a room and was briefed on what we would be doing throughout the whole trip. Next, we entered a room where we had a 5min long mini show that was quite boring. If its length was longer, I would have definitely fallen asleep. We entered a room that had 3 plasma television screens and they gave us a introduction to the reservoirs in Singapore. There are 15 (with one building) reservoirs in Singapore and we have four local taps - Local Catchment Water, Imported Water, Desalinated Water and NEWater.

We complete our worksheets from the 'hints' that were actually answers to our worksheets at the next stop that had all nteractive gadgets like touch screens. We learned how other countries like USA used different interesting methods of 'recycling water'. They used natural resources like the soil and plants.

This is a spectrum.
cool huh?
then three colours
This spinning thing has three colours - red, green and yellow. But this thing only seems to have 2 colours.
Sandra and Murnira
Me and Karen at Mcdonalds.
Sandra and Poonam staging a musical
This is a concave mirror
Red plus green light = yellow light
Coloured Shadows... spooky
This is supposed to be a belt bukle
Some dragon-like goat.
The gigantic mask I was talking about. Wanna wear it?
A 'human' leg that the Shu people made
Chart as how the items were buried

Me and Karen on the bus :)
Some bird figurine that was found on the spirit tree
Jade stuff made by the Shu People

This is supposed to be a snake. But as you can see, the 3 parts don't match.
Tuesday was a day full of excursions. I thought that school would start at 8a.m. but instead it was supposed to start at 8.50a.m. So I had to wait for an hour and to kill the time, I read my chinese story book. We had a briefing and was on our way to the ACM (Asian Civilisation Museum) We were supposed to go for the 'Mystery Man' exhibition and then two other exhibits - South Asia, South-east Asia and China exhibits on our own.

At 'Mystery Man' exhibit, we saw tons and tons of weird figurines. Fish that did not look like a fish and supposedly humans heads that look like aliens from Mars. Gigantic mask that were made of bronze were also displayed. These mask cannot be worn - too heavy and large xD There was one particular one that was layered in gold but part of it was already gone.

There were stuff made of jade like jewelry and daggers. Imagine a jade dagger. Who would want to use it. It is quite brittle and it can't really cut. Most of these things are just ornaments that were either used as decorations of for rituals. The interesting thing is that these stuff were found in two large pits about 2m deep. They were actually broken, burned and burried in a very neat and organise way. Then, the whole civilisation just disappeared... weird huh? There were no records or writings at all. Sounds like some mystery. Well, we shall leave this one to all the historians and scientist out there to figure out. So meanwhile, we can only sit back, relax and enjoy the 'beauty' of the bronze artefacts that were intricately made.

After this exhibition, we went to the Singapore Science Centre on the topic Light. Don't look down on this topic. There is actually alot that you don't know. Did you know that light can now be bend. The optic fiber that you uses actually 'bends' light using the theory of total internal reflection. How many colours do you think there is in a rainbow? If your answer is 7 then you are seriously wrong. There are infinite colours. We only classify it as 7 for convience purposes.

Pulsating light was used in science lab but became popular in pubs. Well, it seems that pulsating light can do drastic things. It can even stop motion okay, heres the corrected version: It seem to stop motion. You've learned that shadows are made when light is blocked and the ones that you see is black. However, you can now create your own coloured shadows. All you need is the primary colours of light which is red, blue and green.

We went around with our activity sheet and complete our acativities. We realised that glass is actually a 'magical' medium. When one side is lighted, the person on the dark side can see the lighted side but the person at the dark side cannot see him and vice versa. Try it out if you don;t believe.

It was a really exhilarating experience and I would encourage you all to go to Science Centre and Discovery Centre.

English Learning Journey/ 9:14 PM

Us all rushing to the photo shop :)
Yay!! Monday was the first day of learning journey week. We would be starting school at 8 and the topic was English that day. It was raining extremely heavily. I was half wet when I reached Paya Lebar MRT. Imagine... I had to walk there. Thanks AiLi for arriving early :) AiLi, Karen, Poonam, Farah, Najwa and I headed for the bus stop opposite the MRT only to find that the bus stop was flooded. It was like amini beach with waves. Every time a car pass by, A gigantic 'wave' woud come down on us. Finally bus 197 came and we gratcully boarded it. That was the start of our interesting journey.

When we arrived, the rain was a light drizzle. What an irony :( At marine parade, we spotted our first mistake. "The pure taste adventure" the sign read of New Zealand Natural. However, we were not sure if it was a mistake. There were two meanings to it. First: The pure people taste adventure. Second" The pure taste OF adventure" We called Miss Santhi and she allowed us to use it as a mistake. :D So that was our first mistake, less than 5 minutes of the trip.

We headed to Macdonalds for breakfast. Farah accidentally dropped her breakfast on the floor. We found our next mistake there and asked a sales girl to take a group picture for us. 2nd one... moving on.

The next mistake found was the most hilarious. It was the bubble tea shop at marine parade. I have been patronising that shop for about a few months and never realised the mistake :D "Desert in a cup" who would want to drink that??? So dry one. It should be dessert in a cup. So remember that spelling makes alot of difference :)

I shall not go into detail about the rest of the journey lest I bore you to death. After finding all the mistakes, we went to the photo shop to print the photos. I did not know that photo's dropping out of the machine seemed so interesting. We were all amazed and excited. (how childish we were. Its good to be like that some times) Its like we have never seen something like that before.

We had a hard time deciding what to do next. Cause the Popular Bookstore does not open until 11pm and we needed a mounting board. We decided to go to Singapore post Centre. We took bus to Singapore Post Centre and we missed the bus stop and had to walk there. It was quite scary cause there were no pathways and we were walking at the edge of the road. xD

We did our reflection and Hiaku writing there. Karen and I had a drink of Pepsi. On the dot when Popular opened, we ran in to but the mounting board. Its not that the mounting boards were all going to be snatched up or something. Karen, Aili and I need to rush back to school for Conventional Malay. Furthermore, Ai Li forgot to bring a change of clothes so we had to go all the way to Kembangan to get Karen's uniform for Ai Li. We rushed to Orchard MRT. We were all starving by the time. We changed and emerged as RGS girls. What a miracle :D
Conversational Malay was really fun. It was the first time that I really learnt Malay. However, I feel that the teachers were going too fast as if we are Malay students. Learning is indeed an enjoyable journey :)

This is Karen's brother :)

Ding Yi...

Class reunion on Sat was really a blast... About half of us turned up :) All of us managed to catch up with our friends. However, there were quite comical happenings. First was that we tot it was going to rain although it was just the sky darkening in the evening. How much sillier could we have gotten. -_-" We moved to the empty space with tables above the function room and settled down. We had pizza ordered by Karen's mum. (Thanks), tibits and fruit punch (Thanks fishy :P). After dinner, the girls sat down with Brendan (Karen's brother and the only guy with the girls) and played 99, contact and truth or dare. We made Claudia kick Joshua, made Eileen say first crush (i'm not telling you who) and so on.

The guys started running around. I don;t know what they were doing so don't ask me. The best part was the part where we all played wacko together. It was really fun with the guys around. Their reactions were extremely funny and so was Sheena's. Justin is still the same old guy I used to sit with and Isaac is still as flirty as he was in Primary school :D Charlene... I didn't know that Charlene wore earings and I sat behind her for a year. OMG!! I must be really unobservant. Sheena did well with a merit in her Grade 8 piano exam and will be going for her performance. 加油!! Claudia will be doing her Grade 4 this year.

I just took my Grade 5 Theory exam too. It was quite easy. Only one italian term and the topic was not that hard. But that can only mean two things. 1. I don't know what I know and don't know. 2. I know what I know but I don't know what I don't. --" Well, everyone, continue and play hard but don't forget to study :) We shall meet again... in December. See you guys till then :D
