Bio SPA/ 8:10 PM
Thursday, September 27, 2007

Today is a really long day, until 3 and non-stop 'big' subjects one after another. The day today was started by Maths. Not exactly my cup of tea 'cause everyone is so sleepy, but it was fine. Today was the surface area and the volume of pyramids. Phew!!

Then came literature. The Miracle Worker Quiz is tmr... how I wish we could just have a computer brain. you know where you get to stick a thumbdrive in and go download book. (: We did more annotating than usual. My book is now really colourful with blue tab sticking out all over the place. HAHA!!

AFter lunch was Bio SPA (Science Practical Assessment) in the Bio Lab. Having to climb 4 stories up to the Science Block, my heart was already pounding as bad as it could get. We started on time. I took a glance onto the bench top... it was not as what I expected to be. BUT I WILL NOT REVEAL THE QUESTION. this post will only be completed after the EOY. to be continued.

Then Geog was the last period of the day. Whooo! *unfinished*

Karen, Catherine and I stayed back to complete our English Comprehension Test.

Miss Wong watches Bleach too! and her favourite character is Ukitake and Yachiru (:

Hiphoprox`07/ 8:08 PM

YEAH!! Today we had a really cool dance lesson. I can still remember the dance Miss Gloria taught us (: We played a game: of who can last the longest for Cha Cha dance. The prize was a chocolate. Congrats to those who did. Anyway, she taught us Hip Hop. The steps were fast but we all learnt it to our best. And Row 5 is always the best... the neatest. LOL. I think Murnira can dance well. She has that look of coolness and the 'aire' when she dances. We learnt comtempary dance too. Its abit like ballet, just that you don't have to stand on your toes, (Thank Goodness) be extremely flexible, have super straight backs and wear those weird clothes. (no offence) Its kind of like what we call, modern ballet. We know only the basics lah... but 3 hours of non-stop dancing is what I call fun. Usually people will be a little shy, but when everyone is doing it together and laughing, you forget to keep yourself in check, let loose and do the dance. It was tiring though. I guess I burnt all the unwanted calories. To kill two birds with one stone. Recess was fun and Computer Studies is normal as usual then had English Lesson and when home (:

English Oral/ 9:32 PM

Lol. Today was the mini starting of the EOYs. I had MY ENGLISH ORAL TODAY!! RAWR! I think I screwed part of it :( We climbed up to th D block 4th floor lugging things to study during the wait to study - Miracle Worker, Bio File and CL ws. The wait was long and air was filled with tension still but everyone spoke to each other light heartedly. That was the best we could do to overcome getting all worried and jittery. I am the 10th to

I read, tested and memorised some parts of The Miracle Worker then I complete my Chinese Ws. YAY!!

T3 SLs foreva/ 9:28 PM

I have not blogged about my experience of being a SL for Term 3. The first day of Term 4 was really weird. I felt bare cause I was no longer wearing the tie. And everything feels weird. I think I look abnormal without the tie. I was even looking for my badge when I realise that I no longer needed it. Being a student leader was fun. I enjoyed the experience... Other than the horrible feeling of booking someone. However, I guess you will get use to it after a while. I have now become a bit immune to booking someone. Some prefects even find it fun or normal --" I think everyone was great in one way or another. Our SL is really bonded. with all the meetings and problem solving together. It is indeed a refreshing experience that I will not forget. Many things have happened in the group but in the end, everyone is a T3 SL forever. Thanks guys for being a great pal in the Term 3 although it was harsh term. Love ya!!

I like ichigos hollow form man - powerful. All those who watch.. Let the Bleach ardent fans untie (: LOL. Ichimaru is damn scary when he opens his eyes. Now I am at 65. Too bad I can't watch anymore because of the stupid EOYs. I have enough of exams. --"

Sheeps heart <3/ 8:36 PM

Mr De Souza's lecture

Gloria and I the alcohol 'lic' ladies
Whose B'dae is it? The Heart CAKE!

photos: Mr Shaun De Souza, Wei Zhen

Had Blood vessels and Red blood cell Bio Practical the last practical. It was quite amazing to see all these. God really create a really cool body man. That is one awesome thing. The thicker and muscular blood vessels are the arteries to withstand the strong pressure. The thinner ones are the veins. The thickness is not needed as the blood pressure is already very low. However, Mr De Souza killed a fish. We should seriously consider calling SPCA. Although we got to see how the blood travels in the fish body, but poor fish. We told him that the blood was slowing down. After it was released back, the fish could not swim properly. In fact, upside down. It also had problems swimming. It was pronounced dead that afternoon. We still have the fish's dead body in the class. Getting it readyt for a proper burial.

Today had disection of Sheeps Heart. Really stinky but fun. EEWW! We used a stringe to clean the heart and wash out the blood, plus see how the vessels were conected to one another. It was abit gross. Then Mr De Souza came round to tell us what is what. The heart was kind of soft and spongy. We stuck our finders into the blood vessels to feel the ventricles. The thicker part was the left ventricle.

Then we made an incision along the wall and saw the valves. and then we compared it with the right one. The atriums were smaller than I thought. We stuck all the apparatus into the heart when we were done and called it a birthday cake. Then Grace meshed up all the fats cut of from the fatty heart and called it Chee Chiong Fun. LOL. There is photo if I am not wrong. Good bye

Dance Exam/ 8:35 PM

Yesterday, we had a dance exam- American Latin Dance called Cha Cha. Hey... don't get me wrong. ITs actually quite fun although I hate the part that we had to stay back to take the exam plus all the unnecessary pressure. LOL. I have not been blogging for a while so I shall start with the music module. I learnt the xylaphone with all the other grade 6 people. It was a challenge to play with two stick simultaenously two different notes. Hitting them is already a problem... not to mention getting the notes right. After much practice, I guess I passed the assessment. We only had 2 or 3 lessons. I managed to try the glokenspiel and the lyra bells. All are similar in shape but sound different. I like the glokenspiel though.

Next was dance. As I already mentioned, we were learning cha cha dance. Our teacher was Miss Wendy, but Miss Gloria also taught us a lessons. Our first impression of Miss Wendy was not really nice, but I guess our opinion of her changed gradually. Because RGS is a GIRLS school, where are we to get GUYS!? so the girls were spilt into girls and guys. Unfortunately, I was the guy (cause I am tall (: ) Karen is my 'partner' The next problem was that our class had 35 people. In the end, our morally right Catherine had 'partners'. LOL. We first learnt the basic steps of Cha Cha -

5...6...7...8 and left, front, back, side and side, and back, front, side and side
This is the basic step throughout.
Next we were taught the 8-point-turn. It was hard. The guys had to shove the girls along. But we did well. Expecially Sandra and Murnira. They were the best. It was always either us or them going first. Then we will sit down and slack and talk about random stuff.
Next up on the line was New York. I wonder why they call them that but anyway, this one was a little shorter and a slight bit easier to do then the 8-point-turn. Our assessment was up till here. thank God !! If not I might die in the examination room. The lesson before the exam, Miss Gloria took us for the first half and she went through the exam procedures. Thanks You! Miss Wendy later taught us a bit of hip hop and knee bob cause we had to much time. It was REALLY REALLY fun. I think yall should try it. Thanks Miss Wendy.
We had to write down our register numbers before entering. was a bit nervous. We did the starting position in the wrong way. But other than that, everything else was fine. Phew!!

The JPSL cun PIT camp/ 8:20 PM

Hey, got back from the PIT cun JPSL camp on 12/9/07. Was really tired by time I reached home, it was already 8pm, plus I have'nt even taken my dinner yet. Was really hungry, tired and frustrated. Homework was still not yet done , but I am glad that I took part in it, was a really ENRICHING experience. It was also great to meet new people that I never knew... all very capable leaders.

At 2.30pm, all norminees went to the AVA room to meet. There, attendence was taken and we were given name stickers to stick our very proud names. In groups of three, we dragged and took photos with anyone random. In the AVA room, we were briefed on the activity that we were about to embark. the dunno what '100 points' game. I really can't remember. After the *insert yawn* very boring introduction and briefing, the fun started. Our facilators were: Ada (girl who loves her name), Pauline incharge of sec 209 and Reshmir.

Our mission: to collect as many points and do as many activities in YOUR GROUPS as possible. I was in group one. Group members: Rachel, Amanda. Me, Elaine (another one) and many others. Sorry if I forgot your name but I know there were 9 of us and I STILL remember your faces. O... and we were supposed to take care of the egg. An empty egg with only the shell left... really fragile. But Group 1 the number one group is the most ingenious group of all. We kept our egg half submerged in a bottle of water and made sure the cannot be seen *add lightbulb*. We also created a lame cheer:

There was a DOCK that had a SHIP
and LEADER was its name O!
L-E-A-D-E-R
L-E-A-D-E-R
L-E-A-D-E-R and
LEADER was his name O!!
note: the L-E-A-D-E-R is to be done with sign language. The song also has actions. To be sung faster and faster in the tune BINGO

The first activity was to pass 3 small balls and and a large ball around without dropping all three for 2 minutes. If not , the time will be reserted. We completed it with a bit of difficulty with more than 5 tries. It was harder than it seems but we perservered. (: TEAM-SPIRIT man!!

Then next one was at the spiral staircase, where we had to transport ping pong balls with two wooden rods up the staircase and dump into this 4 cups tied together. If it does not get into the cup, it is NOT counted. Our target was 14... but we only got 4. We 'Failed' terribly. But it was none the less a good experience.

Running to our next station, was the foyer. There we were supposed to randomly link arms and then untangle ourselves. It was easy peasy. (: That one was the least challenging.

We then ran all the way to the netball courts. Was huffing and puffing by time We all reached there. It was the MOST challenging station. We were all blind-folded and were supposed to find a hidden rope in the netball courts. Then blind-folded still, we had to make a square out of the rope. Hey... you don't think that is challenging? Imagine making a square - equal sides with your eyes close. I found the rope, walking in the direction of the voice that shouted "ok!". Everyone else followed my voice and I grabe their hands to the rope. We numbered ourselves from 1 to 10. 1,4,7,10 will be the corners. I was 7 and was to make sure that we made right angles. Others were to ensure that they were standing of equal distance. After much shouting a attempts, we did it. (: But it took quite long. Indeed.

Our last station was at the corridor near the amphetheatre. One person at a time, we would have to cross a set of obstacles like mission impossible. (: Then the rest have to sit on each other without chairs in a circle. My legs almost died. In fact I think they did... all red when everyone was done.

Reflections again... looks like teachers can;t do without these. We had group situations where we were posted sticky situations and had to solve it. We got an emo girl, rebellious girls etc. You know what I mean. The entire thing ended at 7 plus. this was the latest I have ended school other than during orientation. --" But it was really fun. (:

Life size prawn crackers/ 9:12 PM
Sunday, September 16, 2007

This happen on 16th September, but I have no time to blog about it. Marcus, my YM (Youth Ministry) YSGL (Youth Small Group Leader) just came back from Korea. He got us some cute nail clippers with cute Korean dolls as a key chain. I really like it (: Plus during lessons, he showed us the canned food that he brought back - canned silkworm pupa. When you shake it you can feel the slimy slim of the worms. EEWWW!! He told us it is something that is ONLY sold in Korea. People who go to Korea is usually for the scenery, the food or the dramas. But he went there for the disgusting )in my opinion) silkworms. Anyway, he also bought is this LARGER than Life prawncrackers. As you can see it is as big as a bag ( like the one I am carrying). This picture was taken at park mall. Even with 10 of us eating from the pack, it is not even half way through. And the Koreans were really thoughtful. They knew that no one would be able to finish this entire pack at one go unless you have 20 over people eating so they had a ziplock bag ready in the packet itself. LOL. Such interesting things they have.

My weird looking model

So fast and it is already through the second week since everyone started school half heartedly, groaning 'why must we get up so earl again!!'. I haven't told anyone what I did doing the holidays, but it was kind of pathetic really. Not worth mentioning really. Most of the time was spent revising for the coming EOYs, doing homework and the freaking Bio PT, that took half my time. The model itself was a chore to do, but I'm glad I did it. Cause it was just returned about 2 days ago and I got like 17/20. Quite a good feat, considering the amount I crapped in the Pt, but I guess it made sense to Mr De Souza. :D On the thursday of the Holidays, I watched Ratatouille by Disney pixars with my mum and sis at the Bugis cinemas. It was a really great show. Simply entertaining... not comical but humorous is a way and have a cool moral. 'Anyone can cook' huh?

To me it means that anyone can do anything, including a mouse. We should not be surprised and underestimate people. Sometimes things defy nature. If you have time, be sure to catch it. It is worth your time and money. (:

Happy Teachers' Day to all teachers! YAY! I shall describe the backstage scene. Coming to school as usual but the atmophere was different. All the performers put their put their belongings into classrooms desinated for us. At the usual 7.25am bell sharp, the sec 1 and 2s report to the netball courts and the sec 3 and 4s to the field. RGS has descided that Teachers' Day shall also be the RGS Aces Day. We have been rehersing this for 1 month now, most of us were familiar with it. It was really a fun and enriching experience, the feeling of the entire school doing it together. Plus we're all wearing our house shirts. Imagine a mirage of rainbow colours - red, yellow, green, blue and purple. This dance was choreographed by a fellow Rafflesian. :)

The entire dance ended. All the performers dashed to change and get ready. I bet the others were wondering what the heck was wrong with us. Running at top speed away once the song ended. Everyone changed in the same room. LOL! No worries, the lights were off and the doors were locked so no one could see a thing ( If that's what you're wondering about)

At the amphetheatre, all the buzzing was really exciting, plus it would be my first time to perform on stage in Sec 1 in RGS!! I could almost feel the adreline rushing up my venes although we were the last to perform. The opening performance was by the artistic gymnast. They did a spectacular performance, awaing the crowd with human pyramids, perfect cartwheels (with and without hands) and with their colourful costumes. I am really impressed. Although I have seen them all perform numerous times and seen them warm up with 'tumbles', I still think they were brilliant. Kempatei!!

Next up was the Prefects performance. This is their last time performing for the school before they leave. They put up an entertaining sing and act scene that had everyone doubling in laughter... about Pts and the RGS life. "500, 65 thousand minutes, 500, 65 thousand minutes..." their voices and the tune still sticks in my head. Thanks Prefects. Love you always.

The Term 2 Sls and 109 gave their own blast and the dance brought the heat up. I like the song use by the t2 Sls. It had a really unique music style and their dance was well choreographed.

The Sec 3s gave their melodious voices with acappella, I am impressed.

Next up was us... I personally think that we did well too, 'ending' the student section of the performance. Who knows that the teachers also had something in stall for us. We are really very fortunate. (: We had teachers dressed in uniforms from the 'Leffles academy' They are called the 'blah-ders' of the 'Leffles academy' LOL. The teacher's really did a good job ma. I shall let the pictures do the talking.

After school, there was a gigantic crowd at the teachers' lockers. Thank God, I gave mine one day before so I did not have to squeeze with them. *clever smile*. I collected the flower I ordered for myself for fun and we went back to Kong Hwa. I was seriously looking forward to going back. Karen, Charla and I proceeded to the gallery cause the upper pri were having their assembly. You know what? Either I have changed or something went terribly wrong. I realise the assembly was totally BORing!! The long teachers' day talk and the weird videos showing. I wonder how I managed to like survived 6 years of this. --" We met Mrs Han outside the hall, together with Clement, Guan Bo, Justin, Cheng Sin, Guan Koi, Hui Han, Charlene, Pearl, Ai Wee, Claudia, Sheena, Vivienne, Ding Yi and others I forgot. YEAH!! Arthur didn't come. He better know where he stands. If he did, we prefects would NEVER let him go back alive. Thats a very old story why.

We played netball for fun, tested the old piano. Ate the food there and then went happily to bugis - Me, Claudia, Karen, Charla, Ai Wee, her sister and Sheena. Imagine squeezing everyone into one photo, thats a feat man. (: We bought Claud's B'dae present (won't tell you what... lest she knows) Then went home (: YEAH. That was Teachers' Day for you (:
