Today was the 3rd day of duty for me as an SL. :) So far going ok. We had research studies and I didn't even get one bit of what the teacher was saying. Sigh... Maths was next... the worst combination. (So I thought) Thank Goodness we are starting on the topic of Algebra :D So I didn't sleep through the lesson as I thought I would have done. --

Today was the first lesson of speech and drama. We spent the first 10 mins solving some technical problem. Karen and I are the IT rep (: YAY! thx to us, we solved it (: Whoo!! We did some wild stuff called stretching with music. We were laughing most of the time. We did "shake you right hand, shake you right leg, your right left leg" and so on. Then we had some speech practise. It was fun... and funny. Common mistakes: their, students, stew, through. "Drop you jaw when you speak. You look like you have no tone." LOL. The teacher said I have a nice voice tone but can be improved :D

Next, was the second biology lesson. We were told to make some observations of a peanut and then find our peanut mixed in the tray with other. It was fun (: Then we watched a video clip... the animals are awesome. Beautiful... but some of them didn't really look like animals at all o_O"

2nd DDay/ 5:36 PM

Tuesday was kind of a super slack day, and I like that (: For history, Miss Tay was kind enough not to do any mind boggling things. We were allowed to walk around the school, to look for 5 things that has historic value. LOL!

In Aesthetics, which is back to the D 'n' T module, we assembled our motos and all the battery holders onto the base. So cool man. We used the wood-block cutter, the driller and many other mechanic stuff. Girl Power :D

Next was computer studies... the knowledge hub got shifted to the 4th floor. More climbing than ever to do every thuesday :(

YAY!! Went home after English (:

Back to School/ 5:01 PM

I know I have not posted for a long long time, so I shall start from Mon. Monday... the official starting of school life. How wonderful really. --" It was also the official first day of me being an SL. Doubly wonderful. During the morning meeting in front of the KS Chee Theatre, I was told that my duty was being the Class I/C of 209. Great, just great. I also had rotational duty. At 7.15am, we proceeded to the parade square. My Prefect I/C was Pauline. It was awkward standing in front, I must admit.

Back at class, we had Higher Chinese and did a lesson on 永远眼睛 of something liddat. It was about the donating of body parts like your kidney when you die. We had Maths... a new teacher. I forgot her name :( Anyway, I did not get what she was talking about after a while. I saw many many stars that day. This was the official first Biology lesson of the term. Our teacher was Mr Shaun - quite ok. We did all the admine stuff like introduction, the expectations kind of thing.

After school, I went for GB. I forgot to bring my GB socks. ROAR!! Had to do another round of hopping for one minute on one leg. OUCH!! We played Tchoukball again. It was fun though, but we spent most of the time chatting... and chatting. My team was made up of Amanda Kwan, Wan Ting, Xaveria, Zhi Tian and ME :D I was dead beat when I reached home. So I slept and woke up at 2am to do homework.

SL outing/ 8:22 PM
Sunday, June 24, 2007

Yester, I went fot the SL outing at the Botanical Gardens, organised by the Term 2 SLs. We met at the entrance and entered the Garden. Settling down on some 'large' field. First, we played double wacko. Whoo!! It was fun but I was always in the inner circle, so I was in fear of getting hit - on the head, on the leg + doing the penalty. Lol. Thanks to Priscilla, I survived :D. The next game was a game. Of course. I forgot the name though :( So I shall try my very 'powerful' vocabulary and describe it to you.

First you are supposed to stand in a circle. Then someone will start by walking towards a random person. That person, knowing it is her, have to stare or do anything within her means to get the person that she wants to call her name before the first person (walking towards her) reaches her. And it goes on. If you fail to do so, then you are out. I was out - the second --" And the penalty was to do chicken dance down in a train... until the end. So embarassing. :( We had a toilet break... saw lots of tourist. Lol! The third game was a treasure hunt. Even more embarrassing. We were numbered and my group became like this - Charla, Jing Yi (Sec 3), Genevieve, Nadia, Ying Xin... I'm so sorry if I forgot you names. SORRY!! :(

Yep. And our task was to:

1. To get the signature of someone who owns a football and has it in the Botanical Gardens now
2. To get the signature of someone who is 1.8m tall
3. To make the word RGS using dried leaves and get the signature of 2 witnessess
4. To get the signature of a woman who is wearing earrings.
(definition of woman: 21 years and above)
5. To get the signature of someone listening to an Ipod, mp3 or mp4 player in the park.
We settled our first task... when we saw this small little girl kicking a small little ball. The Family was kind of involved in our game. The mother held the girl's hand and 'signed'. Thinking we were done, we walked further down to discover lots of dried leaves. So we just 顺便 ask the parents to be our witnessess. Did I mention that there was a gigantic group of people having a picnic near us? I think no, but never mind. Yep, we did the 2nd and 4th task with the help of them. The last one was with the help of the girl Pricsilla who listened to her Ipod to help us. Lol.
The very last task was to form 15 words with the word LEADERSHIP.
1. Lead
2. Leader
3. Ship
4. Hip
5. Sip
6. Dear
7. Deer
8. Ear
9. Sheer
10. Rip
11. Dip
12. Pea
13. Rash
14. Hear
15. Rear
We then went for another toilet break and sat down in a pavillion to eat our lunch. I think it was more of a 'brunch'. We had: chips, chips, and more ships. Fishballs with nuggets, brownies, chocolates, 7up, Peach Tea and some more stuff.. I can't remember eating. We sat down talked some more, and more. Then the people having picnic beside us offered us food as they could not finish it. YAY!! They gave us, 2 trays of sandwhiches and curry puffs. After more talking, they offered us orange juice, just what we needed. (: Thank You!!
The day ended... not really. I think the outing ended. With the help of Carey, I found Gleneagles, the hospital I was born in, and the bus stop I took to go home. Took no.7 all the way back to KHS, then changed bus to 197 and reached home safely in 1 piece. Thank God! Phew!

gb june camp`07 - Day 3/ 7:51 PM

Gb Day 3... quite simple lar. Its just that we were awoken at 4am. WHAT THE H***!! Weary and half awake like a zombie, we were told told that we were going to play station games. ER.. --
Yep, so we played weird games like sitting on each other in a circle without chairs. That one was tiring ok. Try that at home but be very careful. You wouldn't want to break your back.

Then we had hopping on 3 legs while dribbling some ball. Imagine doing that while you are sleep walking or even half awake. *more crashing sounds (insert groan). Thank God there were no casualties.

I remember others like carrying cups or water with holes into 4 cups. Only two persons can go at one time. And you are not allowed to cover the holes. Plus, it was raining that night. So we had to complete the task as well as get drenched.

The last task (I can remember) is to tuck a pillow between your legs, pick a rubber band at the end of the line and run back. You can run, hop, walk, anything. Everyone has to go and try to pick up the most number of rubber bands within a specific time as a group. With the rubber band, you are supposed to chain it up and then use it as a skipping rope, or play mumbo. etc. Anything you want, so we did just that.

I cannot remember the other activities though. So that's about all I can remember as I was too tired to really pay attention. But this is discipline and no one pulled out of any game no matter how tired each and everyone of us were. I love GB camp`07. It really made me sleep really whole heartedly after the camp. (guess I really need it)

gb june camp`07 - Day 2/ 6:55 PM

The 2nd Day wasn't really a good start either. :( I got up at the right time, but wasn't exactly the right time at the netball courts for roll call. The punishment: Hopping on 1 leg for 1 min. Hey, it seems easy, but it is quite tiring ok... don't try to cheat by changing your legs. Ok, the bad parts over. You can let out a sigh of relieve now. We had a morning jog around the school and had our breakfast.

Packing all the essential stuff

gb june camp `07 - Day 1/ 10:54 AM
Thursday, June 21, 2007

I am like a zombie now... really. Barely got enough sleep + my arms and legs are aching :( On the first day, I woke up at 6 something. (Too tired to realise the actual time). Then I changed into my GB uniform. At the foyer, I lugged my gigantically enormous 'luggage' to the hall. We fall in and did the normal things like standing there waiting for our attendance to be taken. Anyway, my group is Charmander (pokemon). My group consisted of Sec 4: Gladys Koh, Sec3: Peiling, and another girl who was sick, Sec2: Si Kiat (if the spelling is wrong, forgive me :(, Sec 1: Evelyn, Grace, Hannah and yours truly.

I think we stood there for like a long long time... they had to check our uniform too. The Sec 3s were incharge of the camp and PeiLing and Elissa were the camp I/Cs. LOL >< align="center">I love Charmander, you love Charmander
We are one big family
with a breath of fire
and a orange dinosaur
won't you say you love Charmander too
(sang to the tune of Barney's I love you song)

We were given our first clue and the rules were as follows:

1. No buses are to be taken unless to come back to school
2. Only MRTs are allowed to be taken
3. No jaywalking
4. Stay as a group
Our first clue had a van and the word "K.O" and "see". I think you are pretty smart, so you should know this one. It is Kovan. I guess rules are meant to be broken. There are 2 ways to get to Orchard MRT, but both requires jaywalking. So in the end, everyone jaywalked. There, we were supposed to play charades. That one wasn't too bad, really. :) We were given this clue that went something liddat. We couldn't make head or tail of it.
1. The bersek man went singing "LALALALALA! Run Along"
2. (I forgot this one) But I know all the first letters of the sentence made up the word 'library'.
After Gladys called someone for help, we were finally on our way again. I wonder how that makes up Seng Kang library. If I am not wrong, we ended up someone at Compass Point. (: There, we had to find this book in the library: History in Arts - Tudour England by someone with the surname Barber. I think were kind of foolish. In other words, lame. We were looking all over the adult section when the book was acutally in the children section. We all had a good laugh. That goes to show that we should not have any prejudice that only adults read about this kind of thing. (:
Our next clue was Clarke Quay. This one was easy to figure out at least, but don't be too happy yet. We had to climb 90 steps to reach the area, only to find out there was an escalator somewhere. We also couldn't find our station masters after looking all over the place. In the end, we found them at some cafe - sleeping --" At this station, we were supposed to do drill around the Read bridge. There were jumbled letters pasted on the lamposts and we were supposed to do drill in such a way that we could see the letters. These letters make up uor next station. Our guess was Chinatown - the speakers corner. They gave us a piece of paper with speakers printed at the sides.
Hmmm... Chinatown. I think that was one of the dirtiest stations. :( We were supposed to do some catepiller crawl on the grass, plus a very very long distance too. It was dirty work, heaving 7 bums acorss the grass. You could even see our butt marks on the grass. Some teenagers passing by were staring at us, thinking we were crazy ppl. Then we sang the potato song. It went something like this:
Po-ta-to-po-ta-to-po
ta-to-po-ta-to-po-ta
to-po-ta-to-po-ta-to
po-ta-to-po-ta-to-po
ta-to-po-ta-to-po-ta
to-po-ta-to-po-ta-to
Try singing this in the tune of twinkle twinkle little star. Seems easy huh?
Our next clue was some maths question. See if you can solve it :D
Let NE = x
Solve the following equation for NE:
x(square) - 20x + 100 = 0
Domain: {green grass, sunlight, fresh air}
The Answer: NE = 10 I think
This leads us to Potong Pasir. YAY!! Cause the code for this MRT station is NE10. We were lost there. So we just choose any exit and proof, we appeared at the right plae, amazingly. Praise God (: There we were supposed to do some Tabloo thing. Like they give you some setence, then you are to use still actions to show that sentence. We got 2 verses. Imagining doing all these in front of the MRT station. Embarassing, but there are more embarassing things to come. :(
Our next clue was a poem. And we were to find this picture of four humans doing some gymnastic actions in that MRT station.
A fairer place, you could not find
Than that which we now bring to mind
A place with trees, a playground too,
A wooden bench, a sky so blue.
Find this painting, don't be late
Hurr now, two people wait.
Obviously the answer is Farrer Park. The description of Farrer Park is kind of redundant. I mean which place on Earth don'es have a blue sky over it?! This one also quite embarrassing. We are supposed to imitate those people. Yep, it is in an underpass, and there are lotsof people. So you know how it goes.
The last place we got to before the time was up was VIVOCITY. My first time, and the most embarrassing I guess. :O The clue was like this
---- -- Mei Lan,
RGS Maths Teacher
(insert a red flower here)
(in small print) Go to Vivocity)
I wonder what has Miss Ha Mei Lan got to do with this clue. Lol! Anyway, at Vivocity, we went to this place called Misha which apparently has the logo of that red flower. (don't mind the spelling) There we were to make a short skit using clothes peg, scissors and a lightbulb and must include the theme of self-control. So Gladys came up with this idea, volunteering everyone, to do this skit that she brilliantly came up with in approximately 15 seconds. The storyline: There was this poccupine. (insert: The clothes peg are the spikes). He like to poke people with his spikes, although he know he should not do it. So he decided t practice self-control. But one day, it decided not too. He went to poke this couple. And the cut off (insert: scissors) all its spikes. The End. The thing that made it so funny was that Gladys, in order to meet the time limit, kept emphasising on self-control in long funny ways. LOL!!
We climbed (actually got escalator) to the top floor where there was this wadding pool. There we were to make this ballet dance in the wadding pool. Imagine the tons of people looking at us. So in a spilt second, Gladys again, decided that we shall all do the Swan Lake. But our version is super funny. She is the swan, volunteered Grace as the prince and the rest of us flowers. Then we just pranced around madly for the entire time. ROFL!!
We made it back to school, but late, very late. We were supposed to be back at 6pm but we came back at 6.30pm. We had a bath and went for outdoor cooking. We put toothpaste on this metal thing full of water when we were supposed to have done it before filling it up. Then we cooked instant noodles without the seasoning, so it tasted kind of plain. Anyway, the clearing up is always the most boring. We were made to scrub the metal things with burnt toothpaste, and they still weren't happy with how clean the metal things were. :(
Had worship and QT. That was enjoyabe. Our camp theme song is a really nice song titled: Form the Inside Out, by Hillsongs. The lyrics are here for fun :P
thousand times I've failed
Still Your mercy remains
And should I stumble again
I'm caught in Your grace
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame
Your will above all else
My purpose remains
The art of losing myself
In bringing You praise
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame
In my heart and my soul
Lord I give You control
Consume me from the inside out
Lord let justice and praise
Become my embrace
To love you from the inside out
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart
Is to bring You praise
From the inside out
Lord my soul cries out
At 11pm after the debrief, the lights went out. This was just the first day...

A better version of the candle

My mushroom soup (with bits o pepper floating)
Elf-shoe folded napkin. This is my favourite :D

This is the club place

Last Friday 8/6/07 , daddy took leave. He brought us to RSYC (some club) to have lunch. Remember the napkin folding, Yeah. We did just that. The waiter was *impressed*. I ate veggie with thousand island sauce, bread with butter dipped in warm mushroom soup. My mom nearly scolded me for dipping it in. Says its impolite or something. I thought thats how you eat bread with butter. --" I ate steak for main course. But they gave such a generous proportion that I almost could not finish. I know it pays to be generous 'cause 善有善报。But hor too generous also no good hor. I was too full for dessert. Too bad.

Next, to the School Health Centre. Great! Just what I need to ruin a perfect day :( I was there for my back check-up. Well, they said there were no need to come until next year June after checking me. Thank Goodness. Am I glad to hear that. I am sick of coming back to this place. ><

Now, to the library. Sigh...I needed some Literature books and poetry to do my Lit PT. Yep... and although I love books. The library at Marine Parade is not exactly my favourite place. I just can't seem to find the books that I want or need. >< Getting me fed up. Hmmp! Anyway, borrowed 4 books: The Teenage Memoirs, The Drowsy Hours (Susan Pearson), Poetry for young people (Langston Hughes) and Einstein, the girl who hates math (John Agard). Interestingly , I found the Merry-Go-Round Poem in the poetry for young people. I shall write it out since I am in the mood to.

Where is the Jim Crow section

On this merry-go-round

Mister, cause I want to ride?

Down South where I come from

White and coloured

Can't sit side by side.

Down South on the train

There's a Jim Crow car.

On the bus we're put in the back -

But there ain't no back

To a merry-go-round!

Where's the horse

For a kid that's black.

This is other poems I found interesting from Einstein - the girl who hated maths. Humorous enough (:

Archimedes' Mother Speaks to the press

I knew he'd follow

a mathematical path.

Don't ask how. Mums just know.

Besides, he always spent

such a long time in the bath,

tracing spirals and segments

on his olive-oiled skin

It became a family joke -

the way he would toy with soap,

calculating its volume,

testing its equilibrium.

You could say I was a patient Mum.

By the time he'd stepped from the bath

he was glistening

with parabolas,

or so he called them

I just knew when I heard the news

of someone running stark naked

through the streets of Syracuse

some mathematician

according to rumour -

I just knew it could only be

my Archie,

my bath-loving doodler,

running in the altogether,

inviting the world to join him

in his EUREKA, EUREKA!

Improper Fractions

Just because our numerator

is bigger than

our denominator

is no excuse

for calling us

improper.

Don't make us laugh!

Let 15/2

be rewritten

as 7 1/2

This give a fraction

great satisfaction

and we like to think

it's proper transaction

Beautiful poems :D After borrowing them, I rushed to my piano lesson nearby. Mdm Lee drilled me on my 3 pieces and scales and sight-reading for about 2 hours. I was worn out totally by time I came back. *Sigh* I still have homework to do. --

Far Far AWAY!/ 7:30 PM

Honestly, they should come out with: My Sister and the Sliver Surfer --"
My sis's 2nd time in the cinema. (spy the popcorn at the back)
The cute little juke box that ain't working
Me in Billy Bombers (<3 the red sofas)
My monstrous milkshake. Oohh
YaY!! Yesterday ( 7/6/07) was another fun outing. My Mum, sister, Auntie Sita and I went to Bugis at 10am to get the morning tickets for the show - Shrek the Third. Too bad we still had to wait for the irritating ticket booth to open. --" We bought a gigantic tub of popcon, a drink and made a beeline for the cinemas. This was the second movie show my sister has seen. Although I think the story standard has dropped. But overall, I think it is still the ever humourous and romantic story with its shocking characters still reign. Whoos!! I was really entertained man. I love Donkey (:

Go watch it yourselves (:

Then, we strolled around SEIYU. You know how I hate window shopping with adults:( But I had no choice anyway. We headed for the restrooms and Aunt Sita thought she would treat us at Billy Bombers Restaurant to grab and milk shake. You know, my eyes almost grew wide with horror at the serving of milkshake they gave. That is approximately bigger than the bubble tea plastic container ++ extra --" Aunt Sita ordered coffee milkshake. Mine was cookie and cream milkshake. Yummm ... They had this cute little jukebox that was not even working on each table. Wonder why they bother to put them there. My sister had a fun of her lifetime anyhow pressing the buttons. Mom ordered a plate of fish 'n' chips for my little sis 'cause she didn't really ate her lunch. Her lunch was popcorns and 6 pieces of sushi. --" I like the fish 'n' chips there. Crispy brown on the outside but tender on the inside. Feeling like doing something ridiculous, I decided to dip the french fries into my milkshake. I know you must be thinking: Ewww.. Yuck!
But it kind of taste okay you know. Morever, I did not get diahorea ROAR!!

The Fan :)
The candle
Sydney Opera House --" Does not look like

Heehee... Im back again (: My daddy came home today from some team building course. They went to Fort Canning Park. Warning: Do not try this at home!! They actually stepped on fruits to turn them into 'wine'. So unhygenic, but hor, I found out that was how they made wine last time. YUCK!! Anyway, it taste tasteless - according to my dad :D

Yup, and they learnt how to fold napkins... wonderful. My dad's turning into a chef. --" There are a few kinds: T-shirt, Tuxedo, Shoe, Fan, Sydney Opera House and Kimono. How sweet. I got pictures of them. :D

Anyway, thats all for now. Buah!!

<3 Elaine

PTs... I hate them/ 1:51 PM

Woah... really long time never post already :( Was too busy doing the stupid Math PT. Irritating pesky gigantic things. Wonder why they come anyway. Now, I have to do my Lit Pt. This time it is worst than expected. I expect disaster coming... Elaine can predict the future --"

I just finished my paper mashe. It is this gluey bob of newspaper thing that kind of looks like a horse. I shall show you a picture of it (: My hands were covered in the gluey thing. Actually , I think I don't need a waxing. Yup, but somehow, they got onto my hands and created a mess.

I really wonder why they even bother giving us holidays. It is just another school day in disguise. The only difference is the going to school and not going to school part, plus a bonus of not needing to get up early. Other than that, the amount of work is either the same of more than usual. Teachers think that we are FREE during the holidays. ER.... thats a stereotype of a holiday.

I have been working till late like 11pm to get things done. But I get up really late...like 9.30am. And yesterday was quite an exception. I was watching Campus Superstar till like 9pm so serve myself :( YAY!! I think RGS and RI rawks!! I can see they are really enjoying themselves and their confidence makes the difference. :D The small little boy is really cute. But his voice abit the power leh. 不要小看他! Well, anyway, 加油!

used utensils (:
This is the mess we created . SORRY :(

Wednesday, 30/5/07, was a busy busy day. I had my teeth check-up in the morning. Yup, I was supposed to be putting braces but the specialist had changed her mind. She decided that I should only put my braces when I am 16 years old. That is like 3 years away. I am only 13 years and 4 months. Other than putting braces, I will have to extract 2 teeth and add 2 implants. Plus the wearing of retainers after putting braces and the difficulty in eating ......

After that, to cheer up abit, we went on an outing, to Tiong Bahru Market. It is a newly renovated market area, with lots and lots of nice foody :D Those who have not tried. DIE DIE MUST TRY!! Try the BAOS there... small but lots of filling. From the same store as the BAOS, try the egg tarts. Not too powdery nor hard. Light brown and crisp, with the yellow egg filling not too sweet nor sour. It just taste heavenly in your mouth. Also must try the soyabean milk there. Very rich and filling. Hmmm... Next is the chicken porridge and the crispy flour thing. The porridge is simple, but tasty and the porridge not too thick nor watery. The crispy thing must be bought separatly from another store. It is delicious!!!

Then, I had to go back to school to collect my report card back. YAY! I got a GPA of 3.43 (: Not too bad but must continue to 加油!After collecting, I had to go to the back of the hall to hear the results for the SL interview. I was informed last night that I had gotten through the interview, but they wanted to make a formal announcement. There would be an SL meeting from 3-5pm that same evening. The collecting of results ended at 12nn. 3pm was like 3 hours later, so I decided to go home first.

Before I left, I suddenly remembered that I had to find Miss Wong to tell her that I could go for the GB camp in June after the specialist changed her mind, but she disappeared. In the end, I decided to email her instead. I received her email today and she was quite 'enthu' that I could come :D

At 3pm, my dad sent me to RGS, I was lke 5 min late. :( But luckily they never scold. Yup, we all did a self-intro. I knew some of the term 3 SLs. (: Then we went to the Koi Pond to play some games. DOUBLE WACKO!! and HAVE YOU EVER. fUN!!! It allowed me to get to know them better.

Then the not so fun part. All the talk about the duties, the booking system and the attire we have to wear. WOW!! I did not know that there was a discount for SLs to buy RGS socks cause we have to wear them every single day. $3 per pair --"

Well, they dismissed us and I went home of course. Where else do you think I would go??
