Flowers For Algernon/ 10:10 PM

Was so touched by the story but didn't cry. Watched 'I am Sam' movie. It is a similar story to Flowers For Algernon except in a different character and view point. The story is about this guy called Sam. Apparently, he is mentally challenged and his wife was pregnant with his child. It is a girl, I can't remember her name though. After the child was born, she left them. All alone, Sam, brought up the child and worked hard at this cafe selling coffee. The child enters class, and during one of the lessons, she drew a picture with herself big and her dad small. She was trying to express the situation of her family. And many times, her dad makes a scene or acts really weird. She feels that her dad is an embarrassment, yet all Sam wanted was to give the best he could with his current ability to his child. Every night, Sam would read a story that he knows how to read to her again and again and she would patiently listen. the girl feels that since her dad cannot read, she doesn't want to read either. She tries to expose her father to different environments and he makes a scene. Another sad story... like flowers for Algernon.

After school, I stayed back to help RHD. Racial Harmony Day, I did the packing of goodies for the teachers. Had to sort, paste their names on them and put them into their lockers. We (me and Carey and other SLs) did all these in the comfort of air con in the HOD staff room. [one of the conference room] When it ended, I drank bubble tea at Far East Plaza. Have done so three times in a row. :D
