Today was the first time we returned to school after a superly long holiday from Friday all the way till Tuesday, which was yesterday. My mum woke me up today. I guess it was a communication problem. I told her that I needed to reach school by 8.30am. She interpreted it as 'wake me up before 8.30am'. So anyway, I dashed out of the house after gobbling down my breakfast.
I met Nadia at the busstop. We both waited for bus 190. It came shortly (thank goodness), if not I would be seriously late for Netball Carnival Practice. I guess everyone else is there already. Exaclty 8.35am. I have to be 15 min late then. They already started without me when I arrived, so I joined them. We had some warm-up and then drills. I was sweating and the sun was blazing, a total contrast from last night's rain. Sec 101 came forward to ask to play a friendly match together. However, we skipped the shaking hands ceremony. The game started, with Farah as GS, Me as GA, Karen as C, Sandra as GD, Nazihah as GK. I seriously cannot remember who played WA and WD. SORRY!!
It was a fun and exhilarating game. In chinese, we call it shuang. I have not played a netball match for a long long long time. 101 was good. They were aggressive and really into the game. But they can brush up on their footwork, and remember the rules at the tip of their fingers. Simple faults like over a third, stepping and obstruction were made. Try to minimise them. It would put your team in an advantage. JIA YOU! I would say that our team needs more work too. Alot of things to brush up. Like my shooting. It goes on and off during the game. Sometimes I can shoot and sometimes I can. Must train already. (:We could also work on the response part of the game. Quick responses are needed. Straight decisions and then no hesitant passes. Offside must to minimised. People tend to get so carried away by the game to chase the ball that they travel out of the place that they are allowed to.
After a while we returned to class. Everyone was breaking rules here and there. People eating their breakfast. Even Mcdonald once. People smsing and even blasting off music from the speakers. LOL. I broke a cople too and I am not proud of it. Sometimes that are exceptions. (: Karen was having a difficult time trying to get everyone to fill in stuff. There was ALOT of administration work to be done today. So much I am going to die. We started by getting everyone to tell us the nicknames that they want on their class T-shirt. Then we had to do the filling of the form for the Netball Carnival. like whose doing what and stuff. Then we settled the Drama Night Script... read and try to improve on it plus deciding the roles of everyone. I got norminated for the role of the Detective but.. I dunno if I want it. Karen also got norminated though.
Karen and I went for our great escape from these admin work. HEEhee.. by going to the canteen for a break. Then we proceeded to the Gymnasium for the 'STAND UP and SPEAK OUT' campaign that will be held in our school today. It was silly that we brought our bags along though. Anyway, 'STAND UP and SPEAK OUT' is about getting people to be award of the poverty situation in the WORLD. Half the world lives just on $1 a day. Can you believe that? What can $1 buy you? A drink, 3 samosas, or 2 hashbrowns. We need to make people aware of this including youths like us. YES YOU!! if you are 10 and above. Its time you stop worrying just about what you are going to eat for lunch later or about your daily schoolwork and your exams. There are two sides of the coins. The rich and the poor. And the poor side is rusting badly. The world may seem like a peaceful place... thats if you're ignorant to your surroundings. Everyweek, thousands of people die due to poverty related issues. Count yourself lucky that you are living on the rich side of the coin. But is that all you're going to do? Think about it. Join 'STAND UP and SPEAK OUT' in our efforts in making the world a better place for these people! (:
Next, we had another short break of about half an hour, which was spent on admin stuff again. This time was on the Class T-shirt that we had to print. LOL. Man was it troublesome. First we had to call our CLE teacher in-charge. She told us that we had to get price quotations from other companies since we were using our own to print the shirts. I smsed my Mom to help me look for some T-shirt printing companies in Singapore. Even my dad got involved. But we couldn't get it done yet. So we went to the Hall to check our Geography papers first. You know the atmosphere was kind of thick. Everyone was praying their hardest I guess...
There were some classic mistakes. (: I guess they would make you laugh. Like 3 Gorges Dam in China. The one they are building at the Yangtze River. Someone wrote it as the 3 Gorgeous Dam. I think China would be very happy to hear that you think their Dams a re Gorgeous. :D
Another is that there was this question on the effects of building the dam. Economic Recession, and economiv plumet.. terms like these were used. As Miss Wong and another teacher went on describing about the different mistakes, I could almost hear everyone elses' hearts dropping. Just keep your fingers crossed. So depressing. Now for the best part of the checking of papers, I actually scored 26/30. I felt elated, over the moon or whatever better good terms and phrases you can think of. Congrats to Gloria who got half a mark higher than me. She'd probably be singing 'Glo-ri-a! Glo-ri-a!' in the Hallelujah song.
After that we did more admin stuff. Averill and I had to see Mrs Leung to clarify some OM stuff. Then back at class, Karen and I worked 'feverishy' calling the different T-shift printing companies to see the prices they had to offer. My phone nearly died. I think my phone bill will be superly colourful this month. My parents are going to kill me :( Anyway, we managed to settle everything only to find out from Mdm Thern that we had to get the 'legal' black and white copy of the quotations. So everything started all over again. Mdm Thern saw how 'hard' we were working and gave us 'Time Out' chocolate. Thank You!! We finally got everything done by 3.30pm. What Luck!! That's the end of my very interesting (like real) day!!
