Hello, today was an interesting day. I woke up at 7am and dashed to the Paya Lebar MRT Station. Its holiday right? Yeah right. I am going to school here!? For the past few days, I have been going back and forth from school and home. For Infocomm... the moving filming was such a chore you know. I hate filming. Just not my piece of cake. But I like taking down funny movies or actions. And now, I am going for an OM (Odyssey of the Mind) meeting. This is my first one though the rest have already met up once (without me). My Problem is no.5 - The Eccentrics. And my team mates are namely:
Lydia ( Leader)
Sarah ( Secretary)
Claudia
Ruby
Li Ting
ME
Sorry if I missed you out... I can't remember the last one. Apologise *cry*
I was kind of late. Sorry people. Its my bet on that part. Anyway, we rushed to the Foyer to meet Ms Regina Lee, who will be our coach for this OM session or this entire year rather. She briefed us about the Spirit of OM - No Solo Flights. Everyone has a part to play and is equally important. The love of challenge and thinking on your feet. To put on your creative caps, so that all may see you and you can STAND OUT.
We had laughs - a senior came to tell us that the best part of OM is to order Mcdonalds. They did that for dinner as they had to stay in school really often. LOL. Anyway, yesyes, moving on. We moved to class 107 for further discussions among ourselves when Ms Lee left. There, this was only their second time meeting and my first time meeting some of them. We went totally wild there.
Thank Goodness, no one else was there to see what we did. First, we did a self introduction again. And Claudia started telling jokes. And we joked about funny incidents that happened to us before. We decided to play the game - Honey Do You Love Me. To practice our flirting skills - NO!! Those who know this game know that its quite sick... and imagine all girls playing. Some people pronounce the name of this game as - Honewdew Love Me? HAHA!!
We went one round after another. But too bad, I did not get to flirt. In the first place I don't like to flirt. They started doing weird things like taking off people's shoes and then pushing and squeezing into the same chair. And we had cat like pawing and meowing. And things started to get out of hand. I shall NOT NOT go into detail about that. I shall save it for your highly imaginative brain to imagine but dO NOt GO OUt Of hANd!
We gave up on that. Too much disgusting things. So we moved on to trying to create a story based on the one sentence each rule. Ruby started with: It was a dark and stormy night.
*Off the Lights*
Next: There were footsteps.
Lydia: And suddenly there was a howl.
Sarah: Scooby appeared.
Claudia *inserts* weird baking noises and speaks like Scooby.
: He was eating something
Elaine (ME): But that was not food
[This is where things started to all go wrong.]
Li Ting: He was eating rotten bananas
Ruby: He spat it out with disgust.
Claudia *inserts* the weird talking in Scooby's voice and vomiting*
Next: He then started going bananas like the banana he ate.
[you see what I mean. Now everything is about being bananas]
Lydia: He started growing banana's on his ears.
[great imagination!! ><] We thought that the story was going no where and changed the topic. Anyway, we were saving electricity by switching the lights and staying in the dark. I was not really comfortable with the entire thing. But one thing I noticed is that no one cares how silly you are and you can just be not self-conscious when you are in OM. Like a complete change in yourself. You can't possibly keep acting so silly outside all the time. I like it and am getting the hang of things there. We did a 7-man orchestra team. This enabled us to think on our feet. Someone will start and you can imitate any instrument including non-instrumental things like dogs barking. NO LIMITS. [this reminds me of bleach though] Coming back, we started singing Chorus of songs and cutting each other to make it sound funny. Ruby started with: Teen Titans When there's trouble you know who to call TEEN TITANS From their tower they can see it all TEEN TITANS When the city is under attack Blah Blah Added in: Sponge Bob Square Pants, Sponge Bob Square Pants, Sponge Bob... Square Pants!! Added in: The Phantom of the Opera Added in: 1, 2, 3, 4 HI5. 1,2,3,4 HI5. Added in: Suicidal, Suicidal when you say its over. You have me beautiful girls .... Added in: ELLA ELLA ELLA AAA, UNDER MY UM-Bre ELLA ELLA... and so on. You get what I mean I hope. There was another exercise where someone starts and then everyone adds in music. Like "Can you Give me Anything, Can you Give me Anything, *Boom.. Cha Cha Can you Give em Anything * Yeah.. NOO!!! TING TING TING HIYA!! Can You Give me Anything WOOF >>> MEOW CLUCK CLUCK."
etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.
We may not have sounded very musical but at least it was enjoyable and funny. You should try it out sometime as well. I wanna do it again. Then cam the boring part. Taking minutes. We came out with the agenda together and Sarah did the rest of the work. Then we discussed about the next meeting and the goals. I left at 10.30am.
Yoshi! On to the next item on my schedule. I had SL SL today as well. I made a beeline for the JBlock 111 classroom. It was our usual meeting place. We had to get together to wrap the goodie bags and do the finalising for the activities. Firstly, We cut the plastic we were going to use to wrap the cookies. They were baked by ISABELLE. Thank You So Much. But to be honest, we added Famous Amous Cookies. LOL. 3 each.
We set up ourselves in a factory style where we broke up into teams and had different stations. So things went around and was completed by 11.30am. There were only a few of us. Other's came to drop by and help while others were invovled in other comms. On completion. we learned a bit of Jing Jie's Origami so that we can...
Ma tei, (wait) Have I told you what we are doing. Nevermind, I shall tell you again. Anyway, we are going to the Canossa Children's Home at Aljunied's Salim Rd for our SL project. We thought of going to the Home to brighten up the children's life by teaching them more games. :D. We will be there from 3-5pm, a grand total of 2 hours. But the entire planning took us months... since the middle of Term 3.
Back to the classroom. We slacked a bit, cleaned up the classroom, left for the Shaw House for lunch. There we ate at Mos Burger. I ate a Cheese Burger, Fries and had Iced Peach Tea. Simple but I didn't want to be too full. Then we explored the Isetan there. It was HUGE><. And I have never seen more variety. My goodness... From Singapore to European, Japanese and Korean as well. they have cooked food, Fried food, sushi, bakery. FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD. Nah, but I didn't buy anything. I would like t try the 2x larger declares and the cute red bean cake and the green tea rolled cake. HHmmmm...
We took 105 from the bus stop near there and proceeded back to RGS to pick Sakeena up and towards the Raffles Town Club. SCGS and SJI should be somewhere there as well. We took 154. It was a aircon-less bus and we sat at the top level of the double decker bus. Me and Jia Ying took the front sits. We were laughing at the incident whereby my friend actually obstructed the driver's view by placing her bag on the reflectedd spot. He had to stop the bus to ask her to take the thing off. I bet he was pissed. Chatting on the bus, we got off at the 12th stop. We were officially there but not there. We had to find food for Sakeena first. She has not taken her lunch. So we looked for this hawker centre. Little did we know that they were filming something there. We all stood gawking there until they chased us away. LOL. I think we spoiled their one role of film. Charla was so engrossed that she kicked a cat while walking. DON't CALL THE SPCA. There is no need to all cat lovers. This was purely an accident.
Sakeena had drank two packets of MILO and ate M&Ms. She said she had enough. So we headed for the home. We had crossed the same place once, twice already. Then we walked, but in the wrong diretion, so we headed back again. Heehee. While walking, we realised that there was a bus stop that would've enabled us to walk lesser. But I guess, a little extra excercise could all do us good.
There were 3 gates. Two of them are for the school. The last one is for the home - Gate 3. The gate at the end of the road. Which means, we had to walk all the way down - we had already walked quite a distance. --" We waited for Auntie Susan to come out at the cafeteria. Come to think of it, the home was really well furnished. I like the area. It was cosy. Not too big and not too small either. The place was filled with plants and there was a really cool playground. Even the one at the HDB flat was nothing compared to this. I like the swings especially. :D
The children came. Some were shy, others were mischevious (namely the guys) while others were spontaneuosly cheerful. YAY! We introduced ourselves. Since we had this weird Pom Thing that was sticking our of name tags, we were quite conspicuous. (pardon my spelling)
